CBT – Compulsory Basic Training
This is a legal requirement.
It is a safe introduction to motorcycling through a course set down by the Driving Standards Agency.
Upon successful completion this will enable you to ride your motorcycle, moped or scooter on public roads as a learner for 2 years.
The course introduces you to basic riding skills and road craft.
The main focus of the day is to reach the skill level required to safley ride a motorcycle. Therefore a large portion of the course is spent in the safety of our off-road facility. This enables you to learn and practice the techniques needed on the public highway without having to worry about other road users.
Licenses
Category AM
Moped Entitlement 49cc.
If you have a full car licence and you passed your car test before 1st February 2001, then you will have Category P on your Licence. This means you can ride a moped without L plates and carry pillion passengers without having to take a test or CBT.
However if you have passed your test after the 1st of February 2001 the above entitlement no longer exists and you will have to undertake a full CBT.
Upon successful completion of a CBT you will then be entitled to ride up to a 125cc motorcycle/moped for 2 years displaying L plates front & rear.
